Eighteen months after the Nerja case, Detective Carmen Reyes is called to a hillside above Frigiliana where a grave has been dug carefully and filled in badly. The body has been in the ground nine years. The paperwork says the man it belongs to boarded a ferry to Melilla in 2017 and never came back.

Carmen has a new commanding officer who wants the case closed by August, a witness who will only speak to Alex Marquez, and the growing certainty that whoever buried this man is still driving the same road past it every day.
